What is it:

Family Milestone is a simple step-by-step approach to help parents become the primary faith influencers in their child’s life.

 

HTFW focuses on five milestones that every person growing in his or her relationship with Christ should experience. These milestones serve as markers of progression on the spiritual formation journey. When a person reaches a milestone, that growth is celebrated for how God is working in their life and to serve as motivation to continue walking their faith journey! We want to see all the children at HTFW reach these milestones. We have set up classes as a way to partner with parents and help equip them as they lead their children. We encourage every parent to attend!

 

Milestone 1: First Steps Class

  • Ways to pray for your child
  • First steps towards faith

Celebration:

  • All-church ceremony: baby dedications
  • At home baby blessing party


Milestone 2: Faith Commitment

  • How to know if your child is ready for a faith commitment
  • Gods plan of salvation
  • Friendship with God begins at home
  • The top things your child should know about God

Celebration:

  • All-church ceremony: Baptism
  • At home with a spiritual birthday party


Milestone 3: Preteen Passage

  • Facing the challenges of Junior High
  • A look at today’s culture
  • Faith that prevails

Celebration:

  • A special road trip with father and son or mother and daughter


Milestone 4: Commitment to Purity

  • Biblical standard of purity
  • Biblical perspective on sex and intimacy
  • Identity in Christ
  • Accountability
  • Healthy relationships
  • Leading faith talks on purity

Celebration:

  • Church ceremony purity ring presentation


Milestone 5: High School Graduation

  • Dating, marriage, and money
  • Helping children discover God’s plan for their lives
  • Defending the faith
  • Parental blessing
